Women and Children's Support Resources (WCSR), a 501(c)3 agency, offers a gift certificate program that will put valuable technical and educational resources into the hands of domestic violence victims, practitioners, and agencies, quickly and efficiently.

This program benefits domestic violence coalitions, service agencies and individual donors who wish to make a tax-exempt donation to shelters of their choice.

The Problem is This: Victim assistance programs need technical and educational resources to perform programmatic goals, such as helping battered women and children in crisis situations, assisting victims achieve emotional and financial independence, and training domestic violence professionals and practitioners in a wide range of prevention and intervention activities. Excellent technical resources are available through publishers and presses throughout the country to assist these programs. However, the shelters that need these resources usually do not have sufficient funding to acquire them.

WCSR's Gift Certificate Program: Our program addresses the problem by putting purchasing power directly in the hands of victim assistance programs, and letting them select from a wide range of available resources. This gift certificate program is modeled after successful pilot programs. (See some of the testimonial letters on our testimonials page.) Unlike the recent pilots, however, recipients of gift certificates under our program will not be restricted to selecting materials from a single publisher; rather, we will make selected materials available from a nationwide consortium of publishers.

WCSR performs the clearinghouse function of producing and distributing gift certificates on behalf of donor(s), and receiving and filling orders from gift certificate recipients. We contract with Volcano Press, Inc. to perform these services.

Here's How You Can Help: You provide the funding from your budget for the program, and select the gift certificate recipients (e.g., resource libraries, women's shelters, etc.) and the dollar amount of each gift certificate. You provide WCSR with the names and addresses of your choice. We will them produce the gift certificates in your name, distribute them with catalogs and website ordering information to your selected recipients and fill their orders for books, videos and other resource materials as they make their selection.
